The Most Important Part of the Job

We checked out a Richard Scarry book from the library titled "What Do People Do All Day?" The beginning of the book has a section 'Everyone is a Worker', and it has pictures of a farmer, blacksmith, tailor, grocer, mommy (Yay!), and even a kid. This is going to be really interesting, I thought. We talked about what the farmer, the blacksmith, the tailor and the grocer did all day. Then I asked, "What does the mommy do?" I was really interested in their answer- what would the mommy's job be? Buy things at Target? Go to the grocery? Talk on the phone? Play on the computer (ha ha)? Make food? Do laundry? Clean up? Patrick however didn't even consider his answer. "Give hugs," he stated, like it was obvious all along. gulp. Mommy emotions running high... He was of course right, the other things I do are important, but it all pales in comparison to his answer. Now if I can just remember that!
